As I mentioned yesterday, we managed to leave the big smoke behind for a little while and spent Christmas in the beautiful countryside up in North Yorkshire. Ok, Christmas was a little hectic (isn't it always?), but there's nothing like a long walk in the moors to clear the mind, relax and afterwards feel the kind of tiredness rarely felt when whole days are spent in front of a computer screen.
It was a strange experience to drive through miles of fog only to suddenly see it clear in front of us and for the sun to make an appearance. Despite the cold wind that was blowing, it felt good to walk ourselves warm and enjoy the amazing views. The rough landscape and quietness of this part of the world has a particular charm to which I feel very much drawn to and which always seems to help me clear my head for a little while. It seems untouched and unspoilt by modern life and is exactly the kind of disconnection I sometimes need and crave. Yes, as much as I like the buzz of London, sometimes it's just good to get away from it all for a while and smell some truly fresh air, don't you think?
