Ok, so this is just a little strange and a bit of a coincidence: two posts about plants in a row. I have been asked before whether I have a blog schedule with topics and dates etc and I clearly don't. I mostly blog "from the gut". Meaning that this place is where I share things that feel right at the time, sometimes spontaneously, not according to a self-imposed schedule. There are posts I shot six months ago which I never published because they didn't seem to fit with my mood at the time or somehow didn't feel relevant after I had finished editing the images. There are so many schedules and responsibilities in our lives, surely blogs should be a place where we should feel free from such strict commitments and rules set in stone, right?
My intention had, for example, not been to "disappear" from here for ten days, but I spent time in North Yorkshire with friends and then had a mega busy week catching up on work and fulfilling deadlines which meant something, somewhere had to give. Now that I've caught up though and finally (better late than never, right?) got around to getting my plant gang together for Urban Jungle Bloggers, I decided there's no point in worrying about having two plant posts in a row. I promise the next one will be on a different subject though!
So this is my plant gang. Now, they don't usually all live together on my desk - I obviously need that space for work - but are found all over our home with the large aloe living in the bathroom. After years of being something of a serial plant killer, it feels great that I seem to finally have managed to establish something of a collection. I'm watching each of them like a hawk, trying to figure out their individual needs for water (or lack thereof) and even repotting them. Not wanting to jinx things here, but I think I might have finally cracked it. Well, at least as far as my favourite woven cactus is concerned. No water needed, ever, and guaranteed to survive!
