Things seem manic at the moment. Deadlines, a lot of work in my day job, Christmas shopping and planning, cooking, baking, wrapping, trips to the post office... I need to get into my very own Christmas mood. Not the crazy kind that is all about rushing around, but the homey one that is about getting cosy, bringing out the decorations, drinking coffee and eating ginger bread - and too much of it at that.
So, what do I need for my Christmas mood? Apart from my favourite people, chocolate, coffee (substitute with 'mulled wine' depending on time of day) and cheesy Christmas songs, I need warm lights, candles, soft textures and some pine branches. I might change my mind on colours from year to year and I might go more over-the-top one year and less the next, but I don't think I'll ever be a complete minimalist.
Have you spotted the napkin and napkin rings? This is what I've decided on for this year's table. Black, white, silver and a hint of nature. I actually dyed the (brand new) napkins as I couldn't find the "right black" - bit sad maybe... What do you think?
Now for something else: The winner of my book giveaway here. I have - as usual - used the highly scientific method of drawing a piece of paper from a bowl and taken into account the people who commented on FB because they couldn't leave a comment here. The winner is Melanie Haynes, congratulations! Please get in touch with your details so that I can add the book to my collection of parcels to send off.
