West Elm Styling Fun...

...and what fun it was! But let me start at the beginning. On Saturday I was invited to take part in a styling challenge. Organised by Igor and Judith and in collaboration with at{mine} and West Elm, a bunch of stylists and bloggers descended on West Elm's London store to style various room sets and - ahem - generally wreak havoc in the place. Not intentionally I might add, but when you give a bunch of creatives free reign to choose whatever they want from the store to add to their styled sets, then a little chaos is possibly unavoidable.

We had been divided into pairs before the event and given a "room" to style. I had been paired with Karine which was fab and the fact that we had to style a living room set worked really well for us. We had one email exchange before the event and had both decided within minutes to go for moody greys combined with a touch of autumnal yellow.

So, after some coffee (parts of which I managed to spill over my white top within 15 minutes of entering the store), meeting the other bloggers and an introduction, we all got to work. Well, when I said we got to work, what I really mean is that Karine and I decided the space we had been given just wasn't right and we proceeded to change the store layout around to have the stunning sofa in front of a brick wall which would do it justice. In our defence, it really did work much better in front of that wall...

We arranged the furniture, borrowed plants, books and other accessories from all over the store and put it all together. I had brought along Hugo (doesn't he look like a real gentleman?), some flowers to fit the colour scheme and my home dyed napkins which all helped to complete the look. Two hours later and we were all done. All that was left to do was for me to take the photos.

Amongst the photos is one that will go onto West Elm's Instagram account tomorrow and where you will be able to vote (by liking the pic) for your favourite entry of the event. Of course all the room sets and entries were nice, but I would naturally love you to vote for our living room! If you like autumnal moody interiors, then this might be the one for you?

I have to say that I really enjoyed this event. I have mentioned before that I'm not very good at big events and gatherings, but this one was manageable, there weren't too many people and the group was really nice. A bunch of likeminded people having fun together without feeling any pressure of "having to make contacts" is the kind of get-together that really suits me and the lunch afterwards was a lovely occasion to chat a bit more. What a fab way to spend a Saturday...

So, I hope you like this "living room" enough to vote for it here. I'd of course also be happy for you to share this post... Until next time, find me on  InstagramTwitter and Facebook… xo
