Warehouse Kitchen...

Before I took off to spend a little time in North Yorkshire in order to recharge my batteries and, let's be honest, get away from it all, I spent two days on a photoshoot for a fab new publication. I can't reveal anything else about it for now, but what I can show you is the kitchen from the location where we were shooting. This, I simply had to share with you. To say it was gorgeous would be an understatement. The moment I walked into the space my jaw just dropped.

The space itself was a home in a converted warehouse in Hackney, so huge rooms, high ceilings and enormous windows were a given - all things which would be on my "want list" if only I had a spare million or two to buy a property like that, which I don't. I should add that the owner bought the warehouse space around 30 years ago - when Hackney was not all that fashionable - and converted it, so it would have been considerably cheaper back then than it would be now.

The kitchen had exposed brick walls, wooden flooring, the typical warehouse windows and wooden units. All that wood didn't make it look stuffy though, there was a distinct French country feel about it and a casualness that is definitely easier to achieve when space isn't an issue. It's also the kind of space that might as well be a million miles away from my own home even if Hackney isn't all that far away. Despite that though, I felt very much at home in this kitchen and could just picture myself cooking, baking and entertaining in it. The style was very me, the fact that it was somebody's actual kitchen and it was clearly being used instead of it being some show home kitchen made it even more appealing. All the small details, the jars, some dried flowers, yes, I can certainly see myself in there and I'm sure so can you, non? Now, what did I do with my lottery ticket...
