Summer dessert...

Fresh, bright red and sweet raspberries - surely one of the best parts of summer. Combine them with some Biscuits rose de Reims soaked in Cointreau, a good custard and some whipped cream and you have the perfect summer treat. Unless of course you take advice from your other half about the consistency of the custard to use - erm, yes, that won't happen again...

Anyway, when Tala asked if I would be interested to try out their 1950's Icing Syringe Set, I immediately said yes. Admittedly, it was a decision based on the fact that I love their retro-style kitchen products and I thought the syringe looks like something my grandmother would have used.

Summer heat, however, meant that baking was not really something I felt would be quite right, so I decided on a dessert. Working with the syringe took a bit of getting used to as I usually use a piping bag, but after practicing a bit I had a lot of fun working with it. Actually a bit too much fun as - much to Monsieur's delight - the result was a dessert with an awful lot of cream on top. Still, it tasted fabulous and I have a gadget in my kitchen which looks great and is fun to use, what more could a girl possibly ask for...
