Blue skies, flowers blooming everywhere, birds singing instead of traffic noise, the feeling of Spring in the air and the peace of the countryside. Our Easter weekend in North Yorkshire. We escaped the city and headed up there for a much needed break. Not everything went completely to plan (does it ever?), but the glorious weather, some lie-ins and good food more than made up for any hiccups. We enjoyed some leisurely walks, an afternoon in the village pub and the company of some four-legged new acquaintances. As much as I like living in London, there are times when I feel the need to escape the madness and the crowds and this part of the UK is perfect for that. Quaint villages with stone buildings, small streams, old red phone boxes (which you might just need as mobile reception was limited) and life that seems to move at a slower and friendlier pace. There are times when I could see myself living in such a place, couldn't you?
