Shoe shopping at Swedish Hasbeens...

Last Saturday took me yet again to Shoreditch. I needed a new toilet brush and of course I knew exactly what I wanted and where from - yes, I can actually picture you rolling your eyes... Anyway, strolling round the Brick Lane area, something caught my eye: A Swedish Hasbeens shop on Hanbury Street! Yippee! Needless to say I had to pop in and have a good look around. Now, I don't usually take pictures in shoe shops, that's generally something I reserve for interesting interiors shops. However, this one was somewhat different as the shop was furnished in such a charming and un-shoppy (I just made that word up I think) way that I felt very familiar and friendly straight away. It didn't really feel like a shoe shop - apart from all the shoes on display - but rather like a casual and sweetly retro café. I got chatting to Emma there, who was extremely friendly and allowed me to take the pictures, and could have easily ordered in some coffee and stayed for the afternoon. But I didn't because that would be weird. Instead I bought a pair of fab olive green sandals for my upcoming holiday in Provence and left with a smile.
