Norwegian designs....

Some things need to be posted immediately as they would otherwise lose their relevance. Others, like these items could be posted even years later and they'd still be as relevant because the designs are so beautifully timeless.

These stunning pieces are by Norwegian designer Kristine Bjaadal whom I had the pleasure to meet and talk to a little at the LDF. With her designs, she takes everyday objects like a cafetiere and turns them into beautiful and of course useful pieces of art. The combination of porcelain, cork, wood and leather has a distinctively mid-century vibe to it, but is at the same time modern and timeless.

The coffee cup on a tray has been designed as a way to make an every day cup of coffee into something a little more special and the embossed lines and lack of a handle focus the user on the cup and its content.

The principle behind all the pieces is that Kristine wants people to know and appreciate that there is a human being behind the designs and the walnut inspired, wooden keepsake boxes are a lovely reminder of how a simple idea based on nature can be turned into something beautiful and special when in the right hands.
