Flower Workshop...

There are places I'm drawn to like a moth to a flame. Ironically, these places are generally not the bright, shiny and flame-like ones, they're the ones that are dimly lit and rough around the edges. Glossy, shiny and perfect bores me and even makes me feel uncomfortable. I always wonder "how many skeletons" a person with a super perfect home has in their closet. Glossy glosses over organic imperfections and life and leaves no space for time to leave its mark. I like places that tell a story, that are imperfect and lived in. These are places that I go back to again and again because I feel at home there. That's when I'm not in my own home of course. Weathered walls, stone floors, terracotta pots, wood and metal furniture, and twigs, branches and flowers to round it all off. I can find all that here, in this workshop.

Flower Workshop

Flower shops aren't really my natural habitat. I mean, I do love flowers, but I don't know enough about them to even name any bar the most obvious ones and can barely manage to keep my plants alive. I love to use flowers within my photographs, but it's rare that images are purely based around them - though it's something I'd like to explore more often. Anyway, in a funny way it makes this place so perfect to me because it, er, contains less flowers than your usual flower shop. It is actually a part of The Fresh Flower Company where workshops are held and the more decorative items are stored and displayed. You know, like those lovely terracotta pots, fab fair trade bags and gorgeous scented candles. A bit like a weathered treasure trove.

And speaking of workshops, I've been thinking about running some myself. Not about flowers, mind. Things are still in their infant shoes and I need to work out a lot of details, but if people like my style, my food and my photography, then I hope there might be some interest in such workshops. What do you think? I'd love to hear your opinion on this one because I'm not a person who sees it as a given that others will be interested in what I have to offer. It's just not in my nature. So, yes, your opinion would be great...
