Specimen boxes are "a really big thing" right now. They seem to have popped up not just in natural history museums, but in interiors too. I'm not generally somebody who will jump on every bandwagon and follow every trend, but I really do like this one. To me it's like creating a three-dimensional picture, a small piece of art. However, there's one problem: I'm not a big fan of bugs and the ones I do like (butterflies, ladybirds, bumble bees…) I wouldn't want to stick a pin through. So, I've come up with my own version of a specimen box. A flower one. This is now sitting nicely amongst books and plants on my chest of drawers. Somehow this seems to fit my personality a little better than dead bugs… If you'd like to make one of these, click here where you can find my tutorial.
