Château style...

On our way to Honfleur, Monsieur and I stayed at this beautiful château.  As we had three nights in France, we figured it would be nice to split up the locations and spend a romantic evening in a place that would give our mini break something extra-special. So we booked a night at Château de Bertreville which is located in the tiny Normandy village of Bertreville-Saint-Ouen, is surrounded by big gardens and perfect for a romantic getaway...

The moment I walked in I felt transported into a lovely world of unconventional charm. The interior is filled with amazing furniture, interesting art, huge plants, and a whole lot of personality. Is there a specific style running throughout? To be honest, no. There are Art Deco pieces complimented by ornate trinkets. Very ornate furniture is placed onto a simple black and white tiled floor and doesn't overwhelm because it sits in a huge room and given enough "room to breathe". Tassels are hanging on windows and radiators, and there are interesting finds on all surfaces and rooms. There's a beautifully bohemian and relaxed feel to the whole place which just works, makes it so very inviting and sets it apart from any super-slick hotel. As I said, perfect for a romantic getaway...
